Who doesn’t love plants? By instinct, we love to be close to Mother Nature and these days, many want to make it happen by decorating their homes with plants.
I find plants in different corners of my room very refreshing. Waking up in the morning, strolling around my living room with a mug of coffee, just gazing upon my plant-filled corner makes my day.
If you want to make your rental look full of life and colorful, using plants to decorate the interior would be a good idea. One of the biggest advantages of decorating your rental with plants is that there are literally hundreds of gorgeous ways you can do that and surely they will bring a fresher look to your interior decoration.
So let’s explore some of the ways you can decorate your rental with plants.
1. Go For A Few Window Boxes
This is one of the simple yet great ways to decorate your place with plants. Keep a few window box planters next to your windows. They surely look refreshing.
Even from the outdoors, your place will look green and peaceful. I always love to use plain white window boxes for this but you can bring colors to the pots too if you think that would complement the color of your curtains and furniture.
2. Geometric Plant Pots as Table Centerpiece
You can always replace the conventional showpieces with a wide variety of geometric plant pots as table centerpieces. They come in different shapes and sizes. So, you can choose according to your preference.
Potted plants are very easy to manage and they will look great on your table. I find the smaller and medium-sized plant pots more suitable as table centerpieces. They are more soothing and much easier to move from time to time when you’d need to clean up your table.
3. Hanging Plant Pots from the Ceiling
You can also replace your ceiling lights with plant pots as a unique way to decorate your rental. Green plants hanging from the ceiling can give a different look to your living space or any room where you choose to keep them.
You can even decorate the pots with lights to make them look even more gorgeous. Ivy leaves can be an excellent choice for this. They will spill out of the pot and will work as a unique, natural piece of art.
Sometimes it can be a little tricky to water the plants that are kept at a higher level but the view you will surely be worth it if you try it out.
4. A Green Corner
If your living room is spacious then having a corner dedicated for plant pots can be a great way of decorating the place.
Instead of just placing them on the floor, you can always use different levels. The larger pots can be kept on the floor while few medium sized ones on tools and the smaller ones on the shelves hanging from the wall. To bring variation, you can also keep some of the smaller plants on the floor as well.
There is no need of maintaining a well-defined formation for placing them in your green corner. They can be placed randomly and yet the placement of the pots in different levels will surely complement each other.
5. Using Leaves or Branches in Vases
Now, this is something that you don’t often see in houses- fresh, green branches in different corners of the room.
People are familiar with the idea of placing plants in different corners of their place but branches or fronds can also serve the same purpose and they will look unique.
You can simply have a few branches in vases and fill those with water to keep the branches fresh.
6. The Large Plants for your Living Room
Large plants are commonly used in living rooms for decorative purposes and they always look gorgeous too.
You can have one placed right next to your couch where others would usually put a side table. I prefer keeping these large plants at some corner of the room so that they don’t have to be moved that often.
A philodendron with split leaves may look like a gigantic piece of art rising from the back of your sofa, spreading its branches in both sides.
This is a neat concept for decoration that will surely make your love for nature far more prominent.
7. Transform a Cart or Bench into a Green Sanctuary
This is my personal favorite since it is so simple yet unique. Just take a bench or cart and keep plant pots of different sizes there.
They can be your very own “green” version of showcases that are filled with different kinds of plants.
One of the advantages of using a cart for keeping your plants is that- you can move it easily in case you want to reshuffle your furniture to bring some changes to the interior.
8. Plants as Room Dividers
Often I have seen people using screens as room dividers, delineating different parts of the room. However, plants can do the work just fine.
Simply place a shelf at the space from where you want to create the divider and put lots of plant pots on different levels of the shelf. It will look just great.
Plants can be the most unique and refreshing elements for your interior décor that comes in all shapes and sizes. You can create a small green corner in your living room or divide the space into two by using a shelf as a room divider filled with plants.
You can also use big trees oozing from a corner of your room to create a completely unique view. If you have an unused cart or bench and some unoccupied space, you can always fill that with plant pots, making your rental space all green and uniquely decorated.
You really don’t have to spend a fortune to decorate your place with plants. They are very much affordable and available in nearby nurseries. At the same time, they are easy to move which is why you won’t have to break your back while moving out from your rental space.
So if you really want to give a different look to your bedroom, living room or balcony, go for plants. They can change the entire décor in an unprecedented way.
